THE SIX OF SWORDS

The key word for the mundane meaning of the Six of Swords is DISSAPATION.  Other keywords might be:

Budget your energies

Struggle can lead to progress

A slow, steady climb to success

Scattered energies bring sorrow

Delays in matters of the heart

The inner astrological keyword of the Six of Swords is MASTERSHIP.  This third decanate of Taurus, pictured in the heavens as the charioteer Auriga, shows the reflective and controlling influence of its sub-ruler, Saturn. According to Greek legend, Auriga was born crippled and for years raised in a chest guarded by snakes.  In spite of his physical challenge and unfortunate upbringing, Auriga eventually became King of Athens and invented the chariot to enable his mobility.  Unlike the arrogant teenager, Phethon, who took the sun for a joy ride across the heavens for his own glorification and almost destroying the earth, Auriga demonstrates true mastership over his environment.  He holds the reins steadfastly in his strong right hand while protecting a mother goat and her young in his left.  The spiritual message of this card is:  The function of a master is to control the forces of nature and use them for the protection of the weak and the benefit of all.
