The Three of Coins

The key phrase for the outer message of the Three of Coins is MARRIAGE FOR MONEY.  Other interpretations suggested in Blending Astrology, Numerology & Tarot by Doris Doane are:

Gain through social activities

Profit from partnerships

Reward for creative endeavors

Success in selling

Compensation as a result of a business trip

Money in the mail

The inner astrological meaning for the Three of Coins is based upon the Gemini decanate of Libra, sub-ruled by Mercury.  The key word for this decanate is EXPIATION, which sounds a little like expire.  The word expire means to come to an end.  The word expiate means to put to an end.  Expiate also means to atone for or pay the penalty for.  Zain explains that those who are born under this decanate often possess keen minds, especially where literature and art are concerned; but as it is a decanate in the sign of partnership and open enemies next to the sign of death, Scorpio, there is sometimes a peculiar fatality associated with it.  Those who are born under this decanate must carefully guard against their ability to exploit others in favor of their own interests because these same people are more quickly called upon to pay a dreadful penalty for their sins. Talk about an ominous warning!

Zain relates the spiritual message of this card through the story of Little Red Riding Hood.  Little Red Riding Hood builds a strong spiritual body by her thoughts of peace, joy, and good will on her compassionate mission to Grandma’s house.  Indeed, it is her spiritual strength that protects her from the hungry jaws of a wolf.  The moral of the story makes it clear that the cunning and deceit of the wolf are subject to the woodsman’s axe or, astrologically speaking, the spear of Centarus.  The spiritual message of the Three of Coins is:  It is impossible for a man to injure another without himself being injured, or for a man to benefit another without himself being truly benefited.”
